The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) model has expanded across the country, with bipartisan support from members of Congress, state policymakers and a multitude of community stakeholders. Momentum to adopt the CCBHC model within Medicaid has increased among states in light of data showing CCBHCs’ success in meeting their communities’ mental health and substance use treatment needs. Recently, Kansas and Illinois passed legislation to establish the model statewide, joining 11 other states that have implemented or are currently planning their CCBHC initiatives.

What should state policymakers know about the CCBHC model and its implications for state mental health and substance use treatment delivery systems? Join the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, the National Conference of State Legislatures and the National Association of State Medicaid Directors from 3-4 p.m., August 25, for the release of new state data on CCBHCs’ impact, a discussion of how the model can be tailored to meet each state’s unique needs and considerations and advice from state policymakers who have embarked on CCBHC implementation.
