Research has shown that Oklahoma has some of the lowest access to mental health care in the nation. This problem is exacerbated in rural counties where providers are few and far between. Oklahomans know what happens when there are no mental health care resources but the jails are open 24 hours a day – our county jails become the largest providers of mental health care in the state.
