Dr. Wana Ellison Alliance of Mental Health Providers of Oklahoma

The Alliance of Mental Health Providers of Oklahoma announces that Dr. Wana Ellison, PsyD, LPC, LADC, Chief Executive Officer of Red Rock Behavioral Health Services, has been appointed as Red Rock’s new designee to the Alliance Board of Directors.

Dr. Ellison is widely recognized for pairing strategic vision with extensive clinical expertise as she guides Red Rock’s mission forward. As CEO, she oversees a broad continuum of mental health and substance use services, shaping organizational direction while maintaining a strong commitment to clinical excellence and evidence based care, particularly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

Dr. Ellison holds master’s degrees in counseling psychology and clinical psychology, both earned with honors, and a Doctorate of Psychology in Clinical Psychology from the Texas School of Psychology. She completed her clinical psychology internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, gaining experience in complex, high acuity environments.

A former adjunct professor at Southern Nazarene University, Dr. Ellison has taught graduate level Ethics and Drug and Alcohol Theories. She is a nationally certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and has been instrumental in developing Planet Rock, Red Rock’s Children’s Outpatient Center. The innovative center incorporates trauma informed practices and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy into the therapeutic environment, reflecting her long standing commitment to improving access and outcomes for children and families.

Since joining Red Rock in 2011, Dr. Ellison has guided the growth of outpatient programs spanning mental health, substance use treatment, drug and mental health courts, Medication Assisted Treatment with Suboxone, and comprehensive children’s services. She has also played a key role in shaping federal grant initiatives, including Virtual Outpatient, Route 180, and Equal Ops, aimed at transforming behavioral health delivery and addressing systemic barriers to care.

In addition to her new role as Red Rock’s designee to the Alliance Board, Dr. Ellison serves on the Oklahoma Forensic Review Board and contributes to statewide policy and program development. Her leadership reflects a clear commitment to strengthening systems of care while never losing sight of the individuals and families those systems are designed to serve.
